Directed by Christopher Milligan, this one-act adaptation of The Lottery by Shirley Jackson contains the same thrilling tension as the original story.
What family will it be this time? Which member? Only gradually do we begin to suspect the nature of the lottery as the play builds swiftly to its crucial and moving climax.
Those auditioning should prepare a dramatic one-minute monologue -- comedic monologues will not be appropriate for this audition. Performers should be ages 14 and up, due to the content of the story.
Rehearsals will only be once a week, due to this play being a short one-act performance. The performance dates are currently TBD, but are slated for late January, early February. We'll select official performance dates based on those cast and their availability.
We request that you read the short story before auditioning, so that you understand it well: http://web1.nbed.nb.ca/sites/ASD-S/1820/J%20Johnston/The_Lottery_with_questions_Shirley_Jackson.pdf
As this week is finals week for many of our performers, you MAY submit a video audition to the ACT I facebook or to allstarstheatre.contact@gmail.com as long as it is sent BEFORE the end of auditions.
