Synopsis:
When an overworked mother and her teenage daughter magically swap bodies, they have just one day to put things right again. Freaky Friday, a new musical based on the celebrated novel by Mary Rodgers and the hit Disney films, is a heartfelt, comedic, and unexpectedly emotional update on an American classic. By spending a day in each other's shoes, Katherine and Ellie come to appreciate one another's struggles, learn self-acceptance, and realize the immeasurable love and mutual respect that bond a mother and daughter.

Rehearsals: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30pm-8:30pm, Saturdays from 10:00am-1:00pm.
Performances: June 2nd and 3rd

AUDITION PREPARATION:
- a monologue that is between 1-2 minutes in length
- a 32 bar cut from a Broadway song that matches the style of the show and the character for which you'll be auditioning. Please bring recorded accompaniment that can be played from a device (phone, iPad, etc) through our speaker.

AVAILABLE ROLES
Ellie – (High School-aged, with ability to portray an adult for most of the show; could easily be played by a woman in her 20s with a young look).
—As Ellie: smart, funny, rumpled and a bit sloppy - uses humor and brash behavior to hide her sadness of having lost her father at an early age.
—As Katherine in Ellie’s body: decisive but wavering, trying to be the adult while fighting her teenage urges, and distressed at being treated as a child.
Katherine – (Mother of Ellie and Fletcher; 40s with the ability to portray a 16-year old girl for most of the show).
— As Katherine: decisive, smart, lovely, trying to keep her family and work life together, trying to be perfect.
— As Ellie in Katherine’s body: Working hard to appear adult and repress her teenage brashness, and frightened.
—Adam - (High School-aged) The “Listmaster” - a paragon of adorable cool. Ellie’s crush. Adam likes Ellie and loves Katherine’s sandwiches.
—Mike – (40s) Katherine’s fiancé - confident, charming, kind.
—Torrey - Katherine’s assistant - a high-strung, insecure perfectionist.
—Fletcher – (Ten years old) Ellie’s younger brother, eccentric, naive; obsessed with his puppets. Teases Ellie. Fletcher may be cast as a young boy or an older female.

—Savannah – (High School-aged) The mean girl – “I’m smarter than sin; I’m rich and I’m thin.”
—Laurel – (High School-aged) Friend of Savannah, unimpressed.
—Parker - (High School-aged) Ellie’s friend - completely average, best friends with Wells.
—Wells - (High School-aged) Ellie’s friend - dorky but not meek, best friends with Parker.
—Louis - (teen – 20s) the magazine photographer.
